To all those naive Idiots & Morons who hail and celebrate August 15 as the day of Independence and Emancipation from the British - LOLLZZZ :P :D ;) :v I pity you all incurious conformist victims of media propaganda. Did we actually get rid of British rule on August 15, 1947? After all, our freedom struggle was for Total & Complete Independence i.e. Purna Swaraj and we actually didnt get it on August 15, 1947. Heres what actually happened - India didnt get Purna Swaraj then. India actually became a dominion: a constitutional monarchy with Indian MPs and PM but with King George VI (styled as the “King of India”) as its head of state in much the same mould as Australia or Canada are till today. And King George VI was represented by the Governor-General of India, none other than former Viceroy, Lord Louis Mountbatten. Our great constitution drafted by the visionary BR Amdbekar was not adopted till 26th November 1949 (now you know why Pakistanis chose this day for their sneak attack on the same day in 2008 in Mumbai) and our constitution finally came effect on 26 January 1950 when we finally became a republic, replaced the British Kings Governor-General with our own President and finally achieved Poorna Swaraj. So if you really want to celebrate emancipation from the British, celebrate 26 January.
