To break off from the non-stop talk about the Sierra #30 project, - TopicsExpress

To break off from the non-stop talk about the Sierra #30 project, I wanted to inform you all about my next two projects after I have #30 all back together again. The first project I have in mind will be scratch-building either Sierras boxcar #322 or #324. My collection of 1920s era freight cars has been well stocked on mainline railroad equipment, but lacks models of the Sierras own cars. In a study of freight traffic on the Sierra in the years between 1916 and 1921, the percentage of Sierra cars in a consist averaged around 14%, compared to the Southern Pacific, which averaged about 16%, a good percentage of cars when you think about it! This means that out of all of the trains that traveled the Sierra in this period, there would have been at least one Sierra freight car in the consist, which means I am lacking at least one Sierra freight car model. Immediately after/during this work, I will put my efforts into completing my model of Pickering Lumber Company Shay #12, a project which has been neglected for too long. Really, all that needs to be done is to build a new cab, new pilot beam, super detail and paint the locomotive. Ill also consider ordering another TCS decoder to install in the locomotive so I can have another candidate for operating on DCC.
