To whom it may concern, Wed certainly like to address your concerns as we feel strongly that film is an important part of Maximum Exposure. I think some clarification is needed as to Maximum Exposures mandate and past involvement with film at Ryerson. Maximum Exposure is produced, coordinated, curated and funded by the efforts of four senior photography students from the School of Image Arts. The events primary goal is to professionally exhibit thesis projects created by the graduating photography class. The event is, and always has been a juried exhibition. Inclusion of artwork by film, new media and photography students in first through third years is a privilege. The exhibition provides film students in first through third year the opportunity to showcase their work outside of RUFF (Ryerson University Film Festival), which is limited to showing fourth year work. All prizes offered during Maximum Exposure are contingent on the support we receive from sponsorship and donation. This year, were pleased to be able to offer film students three thousand dollars in prizes, donated by William F Whites. All components of this years exhibition will be hosted at the School of Image Arts in an effort to showcase the newly renovated building. Historically, the event has been held on campus. After considering your concerns, we have decided to begin working towards having a set time for a film screening. We are planning for this to take place in IMA-307 rather than the Universal Studios room so as to accommodate a larger audience. The exact date(s) and time(s) of the screening(s) will be made public this week, as soon as we have received clearance from the School of Image Arts and Ryerson Security. Please be aware that although the RCDS motion (to increase tuition by $60 in order to fund the new student society) was passed this year, the increase will not take effect until the Fall 2014 semester. This money will not directly fund Maximum Exposure, but rather will be used to work towards unifying end-of-year exhibitions from all FCAD departments including fashion, theater, photography, film, new media, interior design, and others. Given that our exhibition opens in ten days, all of our funds have been allocated and we are unable to make any further changes to the event plan. We encourage students with an interest in Maximum Exposure to become involved in next years exhibition as a volunteer or intern. We welcome all constructive feedback, and would appreciate it if you would direct your questions and concerns to [email protected] so that you may make an appointment to speak with a representative directly. Sincerely, Maximum Exposure Team 2014
