Today I had to draw a line in the sand with a friend. It was the last straw after several comments. Today a discussion of Michael Jackson went on. My feeling is that the guy has a very distorted upbringing but one of our greatest talents. That it is not my place to say what went on in Neverland as I wasnt there and also that I simply cannot believe an artist who spent so much time and personal money creating shows about humanity would be diddling little boys. Friends, I dont buy it. I think he was emotionally stunted and extremely naive to think he could take minors into his room and share his bed - but I also believe it was blown out of proportion by parents wanting to make a buck. He never went to prison so theres no certain proof. Im very open-minded and extremely fair, so lets leave it at that. But this one person was so condescending to me and when I called them afterwards to tell them to stop being condescending and that it is my right to defend myself to them, I was met with basically the comment that Im a jerk for defending myself and my thoughts are silly i.e. Youre stupid.. Um, no. Far from it. Im simply open minded and willing to look at another perspective and not so keen to hop on the bandwagon everyone else does. Im not going to hang a human being, especially a dead one, because of allegations. Id rather be pollyanna me than someone who castigates those they dont know nor have first hand knowledge about.
