Today I learned The Earth moves at a speed of 66,000 mph around the sun. The sun travels at over 500,000 mph around the galaxy, but the Milky Way is so incomprehensibly huge that, even at this astonishing speed, it takes over 200,000,000 years for the sun to complete one orbit around the galactic center (the last time the sun was in its current position the dinosaurs were thriving). The galaxy is moving at around 1,000,000 mph through the universe. I was watching the Science Channel today.
