Today, I made another trip to Atlanta to see sweet Dawson. He has made it a week without the ventilator! His doctor will be giving him some medicines to try and help the stridor that he has. He is back up to full feeds, and Dr. Sysyn has made a goal of getting him back to Macon in a week. Cohen is still doing great. He had another head ultrasound in anticipation of his discharge and it showed improvement in his hydrocephalus. It looks like Jeremy and I will be nesting with him Sunday night. That means well spend the night in a room with him at the hospital to make sure were comfortable taking care of him on our own, with a great big NICU safety net right outside the door. If all goes well, Cohen will be discharged Monday, and well take him home to Hahira for a few days. Were still very anxious for everyone to meet the twins, but we hope youll understand that the doctors are instructing us to be very cautious with them for a while longer. Although they have overcome a lot, their immune systems are still developing and germs that cause things like respiratory infections could send them back to the hospital for another lengthy stay. That means we will have to limit visitors, avoid crowds, and spend a small fortune on hand sanitizer. 😷 But we promise that everyone will get to know them when the boys are ready. Our friends and family are a very important part of their lives. Thank you for the support that you continue to heap upon our family! We are humbly grateful.
