Today, I visited the Department of Motor Vehicles. I made an appointment online and showed up with five minutes to spare. I was instructed to join a large line. Some ten minutes later, I was pointed to a new, shorter line. Upon reaching the front desk, I was given two forms to complete. I completed the form and then returned to the front desk. The front desk worker gave me a number and told me to wait. I waited. The numbers are displayed randomly on old television monitors in barely-discernible order. Mine was A-0223. After fifteen minutes my number was displayed and I was told to go to Desk 5. I went to Desk 5 and explained what I needed to process. I was given six forms to complete. I completed them and returned to Desk 5. I was charged $33. My thumbprint was taken. I was given two more forms. I completed two more forms. I was charged $121. I was given one new form and told to carry it to Desk 15. I waited in the line until it was time to have a new photograph taken. A photograph was taken. My thumbprint was taken again. Then I was given another form to take to Room B. I took the form to Room B and was given a test. I enjoy taking standardized tests and completed it swiftly and accurately. I received a grade of 100% and felt proud of myself for this non-accomplishment. Upon leaving Room B, I was given two more forms to complete and bring back at a future date. I then left the DMV. This process took 95 minutes in total.
