Today I visited the Hamilton Regional Livestock Exchange (HRLE) for the independent agents, British bred weaner heifer sales. The HRLE has been a hive of activity over the past fortnight with the annual weaner sales and continuing sheep and lamb markets. I also had the opportunity to speak to the President of the Hamilton Stock Agents Association, Terry McMeel regarding the positive outlook for breeder cattle in Western Victoria. I also chatted with a number of vendors, stock agents and transport operators who were extremely positive about the outlook for not only their sector of the agricultural industry, but agriculture as a whole. Many visitors to the region for the weaner sales also took the opportunity to ‘Shop Local’ supporting our small businesses in retail, dining and accommodation.
