Today Maldives lost one of its top icons. Demonized, abused, and tortured through her entire life, she refused to give up. She stood strong and fought hard to survive. For years i have admired this women, because she is inspiring, because she broke stereo types, because she took the ugliest aspects of the Maldivian society by the horns and tore them apart to walk right through all that came her way. As hope is lost, and future becomes grim in Maldives, the story of Nasira, is one that should be celebrated because its a story of hope and empowerment. Its story of continuous struggle and hardship; a book that closed with only a few bright stories but a book of many chapters and events of this brave Maldivian women who refused to give up hope no matter what. The story of a feminist, a fighter, an icon, a Maldivian woman we should all be proud of. Few of us did much to make her life better, but we can all be part of remembering her life as it was. I for one will be telling my nieces, nephews, children, and grand children about this brave woman we lost today. My heartfelt condolences to those who here close to her, whish i was in Maldives to attend her funeral. https://youtube/watch?v=zwTfTpmjVLQ
