Today... The battalion chief of West Allis Fire Department - TopicsExpress

Today... The battalion chief of West Allis Fire Department stopped in my work. He wanted to shake my hand for sharing my story of recovery at last months symposium. I now have the opportunity to teach a sensitivity seminar to 150 of his finest as Milwaukee battles the heroin epidemic we face. Today... A woman in the audience at the same symposium reached out as well. Because of her willingness to show gratitude for my speech, I will now be sharing my story on behalf of the Oak Creek Health Department to the citys residents, focusing on youth. Today... A client with insufficient funds and a 2 year old, opened up about her desperate desire to get clean, and the reluctance of any clinic to take her in and frustrations of our health care system. After a single phone call to a private doctor and ally, who understands the fragility that coincides with desperate desire for care, she now has an appointment first thing in the morning, for a free assessment, referral, and one on one time with a health care professional who refuses to let funding stand in the way of sobriety. Today, was a good day.
