Today i learned (via reddit) that the world maps which I grew up to be familiar with are extremely distorted. For eg, Alaska looks bigger than India in most maps while it actually is half the size of India. And Africa is 14 times bigger than Greenland although it looks only slightly bigger on standard maps. In fact, Africa is about as as big as the US, UK, China, India, Japan, France, Germany, Italy and almost 20 other countries of eastern Europe put together.
