Today is Primary Day for Illinois, I recommend that all Black voters either abstain from voting or vote for Green Party candidates. Heres my argument: After WWII and the New Deal Reforms Blacks left the Republican Party, the Party of Lincoln & Emancipation in droves. We bounced because we had given the Repubs over half a damn century to give us something of real value for our political loyalty and they didnt. Now weve been with the Dems for a half century and theyve served us as poorly as the Repubs, worse than the Repubs from my point of view. Theyve made a mockery of Black voters, and Obamas policies are the ultimate slap in the face. If we dont muster the political intelligence and collective integrity to abandon the Dems like our ancestors abandoned the Repubs, well continue to lose ground even as we elect more and more Black tokens....I mean, Black Politicians into offices. If you still value your status as a US citizen, and what to honor your ancestors that died for you to vote, then stop throwing your vote at the Democratic Party, and begin to utilize the vote to secure real representation and to sanction political opponents. If you have abandoned voting all together, you must know that it still dosent make you immune to politics, you your obligation is to engage politics on the grassroots level. Politics is about power and resources so you need to join or start an organization that works to secure and allocate power and resources to and within your community. You can still impact politics of your community without wasting time to vote for some Corporate Drone like Obama. Think about the political implications of all of your actions, not just who you vote for, or refuse to vote for, but how you spend your time and money, who you associate with, how you direct your personal resources is the most political aspect of anyones life.
