Today is #SuicideAwarenessDay and I want to share a little part of my experience and story. I want to take a moment to say how blessed I am to be where I am at in my life right now. Its been almost 5 years since I stopped officially cutting and have overcome some very difficult issues. I want to give a big thanks to both my amazing parents Shawn McConneloug and Robert Rosen and my best friend and wonderful boyfriend Trae Compton who have all supported and helped me get to where I am at and stood by my side every step of the way. I love you all so much. I still deal with many insecurities to this day, but I am grateful for not ending my life back in April of 2010. I was 13 when I dealt with a very very unhealthy relationship, which resulted into loosing friends who I thought were my friends and had my back, bullying on and off the internet, judgement and disrespect from others who didnt even personally know me due to rumors and disgusting stories. All this led to a serious turning point in my life where I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and I wanted to take my own life. Not only was I hospitalized but I went through numerous of therapists to help me get back on track with my life. This year I have officially stopped going to therapy and now am at a place where I can just look back on not only who I was before (a young scared 13 year old) but all the mistakes I made and learn from them as I head into my future. #SuicideAwarenessDay is very important to take the time and recognize, because there are many people at a variety of different ages out there dealing with it, whether its them themselves or a loved one. I hope my story can not only help others out there know that depression and suicide is something very hard to overcome, specially at a young at but also show those who bully on and off social media that words and actions can really hurt a person and can led into serious consequences.
