Today is World AIDS Day.... and here is a representation of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, by the talented Jason Roberts here @ The Doherty. The spherical HIV virion is shown in a milieu of serum proteins. The Capsid ultrastructure can be seen in the interior of the virion in lilac. The Envelope Glycoproteins can be seen as fluorescent Rhodamine-red molecules. The Negative Regulatory Factor molecules are highlighted in Fluorescein-green. Virion accessory molecules are coloured in purples and burgundies.
