Today is autism awareness. But my whole life has been autism awareness. If you dont understand what autism is let me explain it to you.. #AUTISM a mental condition, present from early childhood, characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts. Autism is not an open gate to make fun of a person. Many people with autism are constantly made fun of for being different but to me all of us are different in our own way. NO two people are alike. All autistic people like different things; my brother Travis Tarlton liked gameshows and children shows. He was 18 years old on a bus singing the wiggles song. Its just something he liked and why I could not tell you. His mind focused so differently than mine did. It was amazing. I would actually have loved to see how his mind worked. BEFORE you make fun of that person in wal mart for acting different or the person at school for looking different or the person in the resturant for acting up and wondering why the parents are not doing anything about it...make sure they do not have autism. Autism is not a visual disability. You cannot see autism. But you can feel autism by the way they love everything: good or bad they love everything. They just want to be accepted. So accept them. Go cheer on Special Olympics whether its their spring games or bowling. If everyone took one day to be around someone with autism...you would see there is nothing to hate on. They are hilarious with the stuff they come up with, smarter than you and I could ever imagine, and so on. I miss having my autistic brother around me everyday. He always made my days better.
