Today is day 8 of our showcases of bands from our first comp. You can download the comp at stickshiftrecords.bandcamp for free! Today we’re featuring Doll Fight!, which is a little awkward, considering that I am the bass player. Seeing as that’s a pretty clear conflict of interest, instead of doing a review, I am just going to tell you a little bit about the band. Doll Fight! is a riot grrrl power trio from Vermont. We’ve released two EP’s and are releasing a new full-length album in the next week or so. We have to figure out the exact date because circumstances are a little bit weird, but expect it soon – maybe even tomorrow. The band has been around since early 2011, and recently announced that we are disbanding at the end of August (see, weird timing for an album release, told you). Our frontwoman and primary songstress, Christine, is leaving Vermont, and it would not feel right to be Doll Fight! without her writing songs. But Kelly (me) and Amanda (our drummer) will continue making feminist punk rock music – we’re working to find a guitarist and start fresh as a new band as soon as we can. We’ll likely put music out on Stick Shift, so you’ll probably see us in the future if you follow the label. Anyway, that’s a bit about Doll Fight! (yes the exclamation point is part of the name). I hope you like our songs and will check out our new record. It’s been the best band I’ve ever been in (in terms of fun and bandmate camaraderie) and I will definitely miss it, but I am also looking forward to what Amanda and I will be doing in the future.
