Today is the final day of All-Star voting and fans can cast their votes using the 2014 All-Star Game MLB Ballot Sponsored by Experian up until 8:59 p.m. PT. The latest NL All-Star balloting update was released Tuesday, with several Dodgers remaining in the hunt for a starting spot on the All-Star team. Yasiel Puig (3,001,907 votes) is narrowly holding onto his starting spot in the outfield, ranking third behind Pittsburgh’s Andrew McCutchen (3,173,810) and Milwaukee’s Carlos Gomez (3,169,748). Miami’s Giancarlo Stanton is fourth with 2,681,019 votes, 320,888 behind Puig. First baseman Adrian Gonzalez (3rd), second baseman Dee Gordon (3rd) and shortstop Hanley Ramirez (5th) rank in the top five at their respective positions. All-Star squads will be unveiled on an ESPN selection show at 4:00 p.m. PT on Sunday. * Gonzalez, in search of his fifth All-Star appearance (2008-11), has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, batting .314 (11-for-35) with a double, two homers and seven RBI since June 23. He ranks fourth in the NL with 52 RBI and is tied for 11th in home runs. * Gordon was held hitless yesterday, but is batting .455 (15-for-33) with three doubles, a triple and two RBI in his last eight games since June 25 and overall ranks third in the NL with a .366 batting average with runners in scoring position (26-for-71). He continues to lead the Majors in triples (9) and stolen bases (40) and according to Stats, LLC, is just the fourth all-time player to post nine or more triples and 40 or more steals before the All-Star break, joining Juan Samuel (1984 Phillies – 40 SB, 11 3B), Vince Coleman (1988 Cardinals – 45 SB, 9 3B & 1994 Royals – 45 SB, 10 3B) and Jose Reyes (2007 Mets – 46 SB, 9 3B). * Puig has hit safely in his last six games, batting .381 (8-for-21) with two doubles and an RBI since June 27 as he continues his All-Star push, and ranks among the NL leaders in batting average (.315, 5th), on-base percentage (.401, 5th) and slugging percentage (.518, 5th) as he pursues his first All-Star selection.
