Today was a hard yet very beautiful day to experience. I took part in remembering a man who was clearly extremely loved by many people and although I never had the privilege of meeting him, through the stories, smiles, and love pouring out from everyone who knew and loved him I felt I received a glimpse on just how great of a person he was and still is in the hearts of many. It was overwhelming to see so many people, friends and family come together to mourn but more importantly celebrate him as the loving person he was and will forever be remembered as. It was quite amazing. People wept heavily over the loss while others laughed and smiled even harder remembering the short time that he walked this earth and all the people he touched in the short amount of time life gave him. I heard story after story about him, some stories multiple times and no matter what, every time a story was retold, the people telling them never lost an ounce of zest in the storytelling. They relived and recounted with the same jovial tone as the first time they recounted their experiences. Now I believe different than most. I believe our time on this rock hurling around outter space is all we have. So we should make every day count and live it as if its the last day we will ever see. Its a hard pill to swallow but from what i have heard, seen, and experienced he certainly did just that. As I am writing this, recounting everything from this whole week it is sad but glorious in the same right. To touch as many people as he did is something I can admire and strive to follow in those massive footsteps. In closing I added a song that, to me, is about celebrating life even at the lowest of times. I would also like to quote one of my all time favorite writers Charles Bukowski, ...We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us. Rest easy.
