Tomorrow I preach for the first time since the founding of The Priory of Tears and my theme is revival. John Wesley believed and I agree, that every passage of scripture is a promise. And in this promise (Ezekiel37:1-14), God says even long dead bones scattered across a battlefield will be revived. It is a fascinating text. It is important to understand, this is not a vision about some recent battle, not the aftermath of combat. This is long years after flesh has come away from bone, the elements have scattered and mixed the remains. In short, there is absolutely, positively no life in these bodies. All hope of medicine, human means is long gone. These bones are dry, aeons have passed, there is no hope. Have you ever felt that way? To all who are hurting listen to the promise of God: "So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army." There is always hope, because our God is a reviving God, for those long dead, for those caught in sin, for those discarded. God will revive. How do I know? Life. The rest of the story? Tomorrow, September 29, 10am Low Moor United Methodist Church. Hope to see you there.
