Tomorrow, September 25, State Assemblymember V. Manuel Pérez will be holding a meeting with housing stakeholders to continue to address barriers facing affordable housing in the Coachella Valley. The meeting will run from 2-4 p.m. at the UCR Palm Desert campus. This meeting serves as a follow-up to the “Affordable Housing & Stabilization of Mobile Home Parks in the Coachella Valley” forum held by Pérez earlier this year. At the May 24th forum, affordable housing stakeholders identified a number of challenges facing Coachella Valley housing, including permitting processes, regional planning, infrastructure, and access to financing. At tomorrow’s meeting, the group will push further on the issue of water and wastewater infrastructure financing. As such, the meeting will feature experts from the California Department of Public Health and the State Water Resources Control Board to discuss mechanisms for local agencies to access funding for much needed infrastructure. Updates will also be given on efforts related to mobile home park permitting.
