Tomorrow is the day! We hope you can join us for our Open House from 10:00am-12:30pm (with mass at 9:00am) so that you, too, can see why our students love St. Cornelius School. Abby in 6th grade shares her thoughts below. Thanks for sharing Abby! Not everyone is able to have a superb or top-of-the-line education. I am one of the lucky ones. I can have a top-notch education with fantastic test scores and inspiring teachers. Nurturing Spirits, Empowering Minds, and Strengthening Community is our motto. That’s what runs St. Cornelius and what makes us such a great Catholic institution. We are small in size, but we are big in spirit and strong in learning. Nurturing Spirits: This school has a comfortable feeling. As soon as you walk through those metal, cold to-the-touch doors and breathe that vintage smell, you will know you’re not in just any school. You’re in St. Cornelius, the place where everyone knows each other and feels comfortable around them. It’s an environment where a second grader will instantly recognize an eighth grader, and teachers share the benefit of working with each student individually a little bit longer because of the class sizes. Empowering Minds: Speaking of teachers, each teacher here gives me that warm feeling because they care about you and want to make sure that we are getting all the education we need. They create a safe haven, watching over every single student. They have various methods of teaching and make learning enjoyable. They make our minds burst with creativity and challenge us to think critically. They make the light bulbs inside us shine throughout the day. Strengthening Community: As our light bulbs shine throughout the day, we shine goodwill towards our community. We organize fundraisers, support our local food pantry, and remain active in our parish. We support each other in times of need and learn to be respectful to those around us. We treat everyone equally and always are sure to include and not exclude. We are involved in the “We Create Change” Foundation and are collecting money to provide goats for women in Sierra Leone. We raise money for childhood cancer in honor of one of our own students battling cancer. We set up fundraisers and support the family as much as we can. We are also involved in clothing drives and baby drives that provide goods for the local women’s shelter. St. Cornelius not only educates us and enriches our lives with Christian values but also teaches us how to be humanitarians in life. Many things happen for a reason. I go to this school for a reason. It’s not only just an education, but it’s my second home. I made my best friends in the halls, I have had good laughs in the classes, and I have been educated the proper way by the teachers. I have no other words to say about how St. Cornelius holds and creates my memories.
