Tomorrow morning, the Committee of the Whole will hold a public hearing on the following legislation: -Bill 20-433, the Police and Firemens Retirement and Relief Board Amendment Act of 2013 -Bill 20-440, the Retired District Employee Annuity Amendment Act of 2013 -Bill 20-481, the Fossil Fuel Divestment Act of 2013 The stated purpose of Bill 20-433 is to amend the law to change the membership of, and provide for additional alternates to serve on, the Police and Firemens Retirement and Relief Board. The stated purpose of Bill 20-440 is to amend the law to amend the amount of salary that may be offset against any annuity due a re-employed District employee, to comply with federal law. The stated purpose of Bill 20-481, Fossil Fuel Divestment Act of 2013 is to require the divestment, and prohibit the investment, of public funds in the stocks, securities, or other obligations of certain companies which hold the largest fossil fuel reserves and to provide for the identification of companies with the largest fossil fuel reserves.
