Tonight is the peak of arguably the most kid-friendly meteor - TopicsExpress

Tonight is the peak of arguably the most kid-friendly meteor showers we get each year. The Geminids start about 9 p.m. and peak at about 2 a.m. The moon starts coming up just after midnight tonight so that will dampen down the sightings, but even if you start viewing between 9-10 p.m. or 10-11 p.m. you could see a couple of dozen during that hour which is why its a good one for kids. Even though the radiant point is the Constellation Gemini you can see them at different parts of the sky and at peak can see 50 per hour although weve normally see them in spurts followed by a lull.
