Tonight the Flyers Honor Eric Lindros and John LeClair by inducting them into the team Hall of Fame. Growing up and watching hockey in Philadelphia in the mid to late 90s was an incredible time to be a fan. The team was talented and tough and fun to watch every night. John LeClair was always my favorite player on those teams. He had one of the hardest shots in hockey and was a true presence in front of the net. He is still the only player that ever scored a goal through the net (see video below). I always had a love hate relationship with Lindros. I always thought he had more to give and yet I had a framed poster that hung in my room till long after he retired. It didnt hit me until 2012 when I was sitting at Citizens Bank Park watching the Winter Classic Alumni Game how much I missed seeing those guys play. That day Lindros got the biggest ovation (tied with Bernie Parent) and it really made me feel great seeing him wear the 88 jersey and being out there on the ice again. These guys defined what hockey is to me and they deserve their names up in the rafters of Wells Fargo Center.
