Top 10 Reasons to Vote on the November 4th Election 10. Justify Your Complaints Do you love to complain? Good! If you VOTE, you have every right to complain about your legislators and every reason to be righteously indignant when the laws you want to see enacted don’t pass. If you don’t vote, however, its harder to justify your complaints about the state of affairs in your neck of the woods. 9. Take Control of Where You Live If you don’t vote, you’re putting control of your state/city/neighborhood into the hands of someone else. Do you want some ignorant, hateful person representing your beliefs? I didnt think so. 8. Cancel Out the Hate Do you know anyone whose opinion you disagree with? That neighbor/uncle/coworker that you find yourself constantly bickering with, whose opinion just will not be swayed? Of course you do. VOTE. Cancel out their vote by casting your own. 7. Break Out of Those Stereotypes! The stereotype of the habitual cannabis user is someone who couldn’t be bothered to read up on legislation, let alone make it to the voting booth or submit their mail-in ballot. LET’S DESTROY THIS STEREOTYPE. Show the world that cannabis users are responsible, well-read and a big percentage of the voting population. VOTE. 6. Voting Isnt Just for Pop Culture Reality TV Have you ever voted for American Idol? Or for the People’s Choice Awards? Do you know who won “Best Kiss” during the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, but don’t have a clue who your district representative is? Come on! Lemme tell ya, Ryan Gosling won’t be the one deciding whether or not your town gets a chance to open a new recreational dispensary. Do a little digging, do a little research. And VOTE. 5. Every Vote Counts Remember the 2000 presidential election and the whole Florida fiasco? The recount came down to only 537 votes. Votes from normal, regular, everyday voters like yourself. Not only that, but…. 4. Every Vote Counts the Same! Whether you’re Bill Clinton or Bill Murray, each vote is counted with absolutely equal weight. Basically, you’ll be as awesome as Bill Murray. (But only if you VOTE.) Bill Murray wants YOU to vote. (Probably. Weve actually never met him.) 3. It’s Your Right as an American Citizen Do you know how many people are out there in the world somewhere, WISHING that they could have as much freedom to participate in the democratic process as we do? Immigrants. Nonviolent drug offenders. Citizens in countries without voting rights. We are incredibly lucky to have the right to vote. Make the most of it! Vote! 2. It’s Your Future We get it. You’re young and bold and couldn’t be bothered with something as seemingly trivial as politics. Or maybe you’re older and jaded by the cynicism of politics. But you will be bothered when you realize you’re unknowingly contributing to something you don’t agree with. This is your future and these are decisions that will affect your life, whether you like it or not. So VOTE. Vote so you can have a say in your own future. And the number one BEST REASON to VOTE is: 1. CANNABIS! There are at least six bills that are up for a vote this November that are related to the legalization of marijuana, medically or recreationally, and we can’t think of a better, more delightful reason to get to the voting booth (or to drop your ballot in the mail). Not only are these bills up for a vote, but pay attention to the senators and representatives that are up for election or reelection, too. DO YOUR RESEARCH! You don’t want to vote for someone who is a staunch opponent of cannabis and would NEVER consider voting in favor of legalizing cannabis. You want to vote for the person who recognizes the medical benefits, the social good, and the financial revenue that cannabis has the potential to provide.
