Tornado season took its time, but it was saving its strength for a terrifying entrance… Our prayers and sympathies go out to the victims of this week’s deadly weather. Sunday, at least 31 tornadoes rampaged through the South and Midwest, leaving long trails of devastation and tragedy. In my home state of Arkansas alone, at least 16 people were killed. There were also deaths in Oklahoma and Iowa, and the death toll is likely to rise as the storms rage on and rescuers sift through the wreckage. I also sympathize with Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe. My saddest memories of my time as governor were when I had to deal with tornado season. President Obama pledged federal help, but as always, the fastest way to help the victims is to make a donation at RedCross.org. Meanwhile, storms continue to threaten much of the Eastern half of the U.S. Please, be prepared, be alert, and stay glued to your local radio station. That’s where you’ll always hear the weather bulletins that affect you first.
