Total Lunar Eclipse 2014: Where to Watch Blood Moon Sky gazers are in for a rare celestial treat - the first total lunar eclipse of 2014, which will occur overnight on 14-15 April. The phenomenon occurs when the Earth, Sun and moon are in perfect alignment, covering the moon from view in the Earths shadow. Who Gets to See it? The total lunar eclipse will be easily visible throughout the North and South American continents and much of the Pacific Basin, including Hawaii. However, Europe, Africa, and central Asia will miss the entire eclipse because it will be daytime in those regions at the time of the event. What Time? According to Nasa, the total lunar eclipse will begin around 2am EDT (7am BST) and will last for around three hours. Ahead of the total lunar eclipse on 15 April, stargazers can view a full moon on 14 April. How Many Total Eclipses Will be Seen? According to EarthSky, the total lunar eclipse, also known as a red moon or blood moon, on 15 April will be the first of four total eclipses that will occur through 2014 and 2015, known as a tetrad. The next total lunar eclipse will occur on 28 September, followed by a total lunar eclipse on 4 April, 2015 and the final eclipse will take place on 8 October, 2015. The most unique thing about the 2014-2015 tetrad is that all of them are visible for all or parts of the USA, Nasa eclipse expert Fred Espenak told CNN. Where to Watch Online Stargazers who wont be able to see the event by looking up at the night sky can watch live online, courtesy of SLOOH camera. Nasa is also live-streaming the eclipse, which will begin at approximately 2am EDT on 15 April. https://uk.news.yahoo/total-lunar-eclipse-2014-where-watch-blood-moon-121306901.html#oLfXowz
