Tournament update! Saturday I was asked last minute by one of the Team USA coaches if I could fill in for a heavyweight (200+ lbs) who couldnt make it (even tho I only weigh 180). Of course, I said YES!!! I drew the first fight against a big Aussie (an excellent bloke and himself a former world champ). I had just witnessed a previous fighter run what I thought was an excellent fighting retreat, controlling his match, but losing because the judges felt the other guy was more aggressive, so I stood toe to toe with this guy and we just threw down. It was all tied up at the end of the 3rd round, so we went a fourth, which he won. Talk about exhausting! This event is as much a test of stamina and willpower as it is technique. I ended up taking 4th place in senior heavyweight men. Not bad considering I hadnt prepared for this event at all. Anyway, here is a video of round 2 (my best round, of course), more to come.
