Traitor or Patriot: The NSA Leak I just heard John Boehner’s - TopicsExpress

Traitor or Patriot: The NSA Leak I just heard John Boehner’s opinion about this guy, Edward Snowden, who leaked the info about the extent that the government is spying on us. Speaker Boehner called him a traitor. And maybe, by the technicalities of the law, he is. But as Glenn Beck mentioned the other day, apparently this guy isn’t selling any secret info to the Russians or Chinese. He seems to be acting out of good motives. But bad or good motives, the government is getting into things that the Fourth Amendment forbids. You want to track me? Get a friggin’ search warrant. So, is this guy a traitor or a hero? I’m not sure. To some extent, I really don’t care. But all it took for me to frame an opinion on this guy was to hear the chief Republican wimp, John Boehner, call him a traitor. If he’s a traitor (and he very well could be in the old sense, but it doesn’t sound like it from what I’ve heard), he’s a traitor to Big Brother Government. Have any of you been around politicians other than just reading about them or hearing their speeches? The type of person who enters politics tends to be the kind who thinks the sun shines out of their arses. There are exceptions, and I know a few of them. But the rest of them I don’t trust them as far as I can throw them. The modern politician can exert enormous power over your life. The state has added layer upon layer of bureaucracy. There are now so many laws and regulations that it becomes really a matter of preference as to whether a politician or bureaucrat hassles you. The regulations are so open-ended that they can always be interpreted in such a way as to make you the bad guy. Given the size and reach of government, the average politician or bureaucrat is the equivalent of the modern-day priest or bishop. They can decide how we live. The have the power to shape your life in ways the Founders probably couldn’t have conceived of. Almost to a person — if only because of the enormous power they hold — politicians and bureaucrats come to believe they know better than the rest of us. This is human nature. A parent doesn’t ask his child for a vote as to whether or not that child is going to eat his vegetables. And so it is with politicians and the bureaucracy. The nature of the power that they have changes them from humble public servants to nannies, and particularly nannies who think they know best and that what you think or do is irrelevant. You must simply obey. That is your job. It is therefore axiomatic that any attack on the legitimacy of government is an attack on the political class and their delusions of grandeur. Note that this was what was probably in the heads of the “Progressive” kooks who sicced the powers of the IRS on the Tea Party. It is axiomatic amongst these Leftist/“Progressive” types that if you are against the government in any way that you are therefore a “terrorist.” Remember, this is how the Vice President referred to the Tea Party. This is how these people think. And John Boehner may not be the Leftist nut that Nancy Pelosi is, but anyone spilling the beans on the operations of Big Brother is, by definition, an enemy of the state. Dear citizen, if any of you chafe at the shackles that government puts upon you, you may be considered an enemy of the state. This is where we are headed. This is, to some extent, where we are now. And both parties reflect this arrogant attitude.
