Treatment of AngerWhen anger is aroused, a person can treat itthrough the following ways:1- Seeking refuge with Allaah The Almighty from theaccursed Satan. When two men began to curseeach other and the face of one of them turned redand the veins on his neck became swollen withrage, the Prophet, , said: “I know a word, which,if he utters it, his rage will vanish. That is: ‘A‘oothubillaahi minash-shaytan nir-rajeem [I seek refugewith Allaah from the accursed Satan.]’2- Changing ones position: meaning, a person shouldsit if he is standing and recline if he is sitting.3- Ablution: anger is from Satan, and Satan is createdfrom fire, and water extinguishes fire.4- Remembering the power of Allaah The Almightyover a person and people’s need of Hisforgiveness. A person should bear in mind thatAllaah The Almighty might effect His anger uponhim on the Day of Resurrection if he were to punishthe person with whom he is angry.5- Remembering the reward of forgiveness andrestraining anger. Allaah The Almighty Says (whatmeans):· {Who restrain anger and who pardon the people -and Allaah loves the doers of good.}[Quran 3:134]· {But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation -his reward is [due] from Allaah.} [Quran 42:40]6- Thinking about the harm of anger that waspreviously mentioned.7- Supplicating Allaah The Exalted to grant a personforbearance, restraint and generosity; and trainingoneself to forbear harm and adopt good manners.Indeed, forbearance is attained by accustomingoneself to it.8- Reading the biography of the Prophet, , and therighteous predecessors of his Ummah whofollowed his way. They never got angry except forthe sake of Allaah The Almighty and they wererewarded for their anger.We ask Allaah The Almighty to protect us from theevil of anger, grant us good-heartedness andperfect our manners. Truly, He is Able to do allthings.
