True depression, one that cant be shaken and swallows whole, isnt - TopicsExpress

True depression, one that cant be shaken and swallows whole, isnt easily labeled, in my humble opinion. Whether its Anne Voskamp, Matt Walsh, or The Academy, I dont know that Id be able to 100% agree or disagree, or judge a reaction of any other human being concerning the suicide of such a magnificent image bearer as Robin Williams. To know this disease as I know it, which is both personal and then even at times more personal when it wasnt even my battle, is to have seen its ability to plague one with absolute inability to desire life. Id love to share stories, some my own, and some mine because of a life spent as a relative of an entire family namesake stricken with an imbalance that is both obviously chemical as it is spiritual. But to share all of those would expose pain that wasnt always just mine. Ive known thankfulness and relief when rising out of anxiety and darkness. Im not talking about joking how you have ADD or mocking OCD because you like to clean, Im talking about being able to get out of the bed and function again after knowing a time when functioning simply wasnt an option. So my point would be this, love those who are currently being swallowed whole. Always be the face of warmth ready to welcome them back out of that pit. Theres enough grace for every episode, for every battle, for every time when the darkness seems to fade and you want to not face the consequences of your time spent in the stupid self-pity you abhor. Theres enough grace. May God bless you if you cant relate, but also, may God comfort you if you can.
