*True story*: People often complain about what others post on facebook. Saying you shouldnt post your business, your feelings, your anger...etc. I agree, but only to a certain extent. Someone recently posted something that concerned me. They were distraught, so I reached out to them instead of just scrolling past or having a get over it attitude. This person was suicidal and had tried talking to people in person (family, friends, associates) but nobody wouldnt hear them out. Thats what made them post it to facebook in hopes that someone on their friends list whom they may not see often in person, would care enough to help them. Well, I heard them out. I then spoke life to them and encouraged them because Im a caring person. That person did not commit suicide. They are living a better life now and guess what? They werent the first person on facebook that I had this type of encounter with. Matter of fact, some have told me how much I inspired them by sharing some of my struggles as well as me reaching out to them. This isnt about me. Im not trying to make myself out to be a hero or Mother Theresa. Moral of the story is, you never know what people are going through and sometimes facebook happens to be a safe place for them because not everybody has people physically around them who care to be there. Your facebook friend list is usually composed of family and people you care about (at least thats true for me). Dont be so judgmental and assume everybody is strong or has it together. Ive met some people who found God through facebook. Whos marriage was saved because they saw someone sharing their story on facebook. So, for those always complaining about what people post, heres the other point of view. Also, remember the unfriend button is always available.
