Two Pedestrians Struck by Vehicle on Park Avenue Worcester, MA (February, 7, 2014) - On Thursday, February 6, 2014 at approximately 5:21 PM, Worcester police responded to the area of 655 Park Avenue for a report of a car that struck two pedestrians. Arriving police observed two victims, a 27-year-old male and a ten-year-old female, being treated by Worcester Fire Department personnel and members of Worcester EMS. Due to the nature of the injuries that the male victim received, the Worcester Police Accident Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to investigate the circumstances that lead up to the accident. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Toyota Corolla being operated by a 23-year-old female, was traveling north on Park Avenue when it struck the two pedestrians. The victims were crossing Park Avenue from a west to east direction. The impact forced the male face first into a snowbank by Santander Bank; the girl was also knocked into a snowbank. The male victim received a head injury and was unconscious at the scene. The girl was alert and responsive and received facial cuts. Both were transported to U-Mass Medical center (university campus). The male is currently listed in stable condition while the girl is in good condition. The vehicle was towed from the scene to police headquarters for a mechanical inspection. The inspection will be performed by members of the investigative unit. This investigation is ongoing.
