Two graduating A&M seniors nominated Rita Hines and Richard Lazarou for a Texas A&M award believed to be the first of its type from any university in Texas. And those Dallas and Houston teachers will hand the students their A&M diplomas May 10. Taylor Rammrath nominated “Coach Laz,” who teaches geography and sociology at Willow Ridge High School in Houston. Claudia Vega nominated Hines, her “tough love” calculus teacher from Dallas’ Science and Engineering Magnet School.
