The chase ended at Carpenter and Mitchell when the driver slammed into a pair of parked cars. Fortunately there was no one in the parked cars and there was no one around when the guy crashed, said Hamtramck Police Chief Max Garbarino. Garbarino says the driver was begging police to pull him over, he was driving irresponsibly and spinning his tires. People attending the Hamtramck Polish Festival couldnt help but take note. We saw the police when they started moving and then we started to smell tires burning, said Wonda Miller, who was working at the festival. We saw all kinds of cops going up and down the alley searching, said Dave Smith. The driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital after the crash, not before one of them tried to run from officers The driver actually got out and attempted to run but the officer quickly pursued him, Garbarino said. Ultimately the driver and the passenger were transported to the hospital. The passenger was in pretty serious condition. The chase was a distraction from the polish festival did not disrupt it, Garbarino said.
