Two stories. Story one. Last Thursday I lost favorite driver in the middle of this pond. For those that me, disc golf is one of my main outlets when weather and conditions permit. This driver “SideWinder” and I had worked together for a few years (at least 2nd generation) and I have thrown it many, many times, often with favorable results. It ‘hurt’ to know that it would sit out the winter at the bottom of this pond. I came close, twice, to going in after it but some type of wisdom prevailed. It pained me leaving, as I’m noted as a “leave no disc behind” guy. Story two. The weather this morning in Cadillac was just right for a final round before the front hit and this cold/snow system settled upon us. As luck would have it I met up with two of my disc throwing buddies by hole 11 at Kenwood. It was a great way to end this season with an ACE run on hole 16 with my Innova “Star Wedge”. As one friend noted, I takes the sting off of losing the sidewinder . Ah, it does indeed. I love my time on the course and have noted here in the past how this sport lifts and supports me in so many ways (emotional, spiritual, physical). Great end to a good season. But, sidewinder, I haven’t forgotten you. Rest easy in that pond this winter knowing, I’ll be back for you in the spring, because I “leave no disc behind”. Thanks Kibbie, Big D, Curt, Stump, Kyle, Cal, and many others for the chance to cheer each of you on this year.
