UKIP’s Leader in Northern Ireland, David McNarry MLA, has met with Dr Richard Haass. Mr McNarry Said : I met Dr Richard Haass today at his invitation. I explained to Dr Haass that Nigel Farage MEP, our party leader, was unable to make today’s meeting because his diary was already full. In the meeting I stated that : 1. I wished to see the union flag reinstated at Belfast’s City Hall and flow all the year round. 2. I wanted to see the Portadown and Ligoniel Orange lodges being able to complete their 12th of July walks. 3. I asked that the Secretary of State formulate a working definition of a “victim.” “I emphasised that unless these three issues were resolved, prior to discussion by the NI Executive panel parties, the Haass mission was on quicksand.” In the UKIP submission by Nigel Farage MEP stated : “Unionists are convinced that the talks set-up is premised on adhering to the republican’s terms of engagement – otherwise Sinn Fein would not be at the table. Under these starting orders the only likely outcome for Unionists will be a sell-out by those in the negotiating room. This level of political chicanery, if bought into, will result in untold damage, leaving our society reeling from its negative effects and seeking out new alternative leaders with different agendas to develop more credible solutions.” ENDS
