UNDERVALUED TREASURE Read Zechariah 11:1 through 14:21 A garage sale shopper paid five dollars for art that turned out to be an original Andy Warhol sketch valued at two million dollars. A family picked up an ancient Chinese bowl at another garage sale for less than three dollars and sold it for $2.2 million. Why would anyone put a yard-sale price tag on a priceless treasure? They failed to recognize the value of what they had. I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12). Serving as a symbol of Christ, Zechariah asked his listeners to pay him what they thought he was worth. The people disrespectfully gave him thirty pieces of silver, a slave’s price. This prophecy was fulfilled when Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus for the same paltry amount. Many people still fail to acknowledge Jesus’ worth. They daily pass by His outstretched arms to pursue things of no lasting value. Don’t make such a tragic and costly mistake. Give Jesus all the praise, honor, and adoration He deserves. Prayer Suggestion: Tell Jesus how much you treasure Him. Quicklook: Zechariah 11:4–13
