UNT football coaches do some shooting training in Alvaredo at VX Marksmanship. I have trained there as well, and Dan is a true professional with good pedagogy. For those of you who are ambivalent about shooting, I will tell you, its cathartic. For those of you who like to shoot, getting trained up on rifle, carbine, shotgun or pistol is confidence building. On a side note, these coaches would be prepared to deal with a bad guy on UNTs campus assuming they could get to their car to retrieve their handguns since state law precludes grown-ups from protecting themselves and others on campus with a concealed handgun on their person. Imagine the deterrent effect on bad guys if your local ISD had teachers voluntarily trained with a handgun and allowed to protect school children from a bad guy on campus. While I am sure most teachers would not choose to carry a concealed handgun on campus, there are some who would, and with proper training, those teachers would save lives in the case of an active shooter.
