UPDATE! Premium Times writes: Further defending the non-invitation of the opposition governors, Mr. Akpabio said, “Of course you know we are very much concerned, first as PDP governors and the centre belongs to the PDP; and so we felt that we should see our dear president and if need be with some of the security chiefs.” “He has graciously listened to us and he said since is a national issue we must have all the 36 governors in attendance. So I believe strongly notice will be going out and all governors will be meeting with Mr. President and service chiefs next week Wednesday so we can sit and discuss and proffer solutions to the current insecurity in the country. I believe it will come to an end.” Ha! What nonsense! I think we may have found one of the real culprits....Akpabio. In the midst of a lot of deadly politics, if we can personalize the politicization of security, it is Godswill Akpabio. I read some accounts of what transpired and as the story has been updated so far, the facts read something like this: 1) There was actually supposed to be an enlarged security council meeting and as announced by the proper channel, Reuben Abati, all governors were invited. 2) For mysterious and malicious reasons, PDP govs led by Akpabio decided to hijack the meeting and make it our meeting 3) It was decided in their covens to place a high level call thru established channels to a govs chief detail purportedly postponing the meeting 4) In a search for reasons to give out, Akpabio decided to be the fall guy and take the dirt by giving out the lie that the APC govs werent even invited in the first place. Result: They achieve whatever dark and mysterious purpose they had for postponing a security meeting and also succeed in getting their major adversary APC look very bad. Hmmmmmmmmm.... Nigerians need to take note.
