UPDATE Sun Aug 10/14 915amET Believe it or not, another tropical wave is approaching the Windward Islands from the east. Currently, its axis is near Long 56W , less than 200 miles to the east of the most easterly isle Barbados. Out ahead of the axis, winds are brisk ENE and there are scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms embedded. It will bring about increasing cloudiness to especially the Windward Islands during the course of the day and spread this activity across the islands. Gusty winds will accompany thunderstorms, with locally heavy rainfall. Also, a vigorous tropical wave has just emerged off of West Africa in the last 24 hours, located currently near 11.1N 20.5W with a central pressure already of 1011mb, quite low this early in the game. This position is more than 2300 miles east of the islands, and located due south of the Cape Verde Islands, but some models latch onto this system and will need to be watched carefully over the next several days as it traverses the tropical Atlantic. History tells us this is getting close to prime time for dangerous Cape Verde storms to develop and this could become the next one. It could be in the vicinity of the island chain next weekend (about 6 to 7 days from now). Will keep you updated.
