UPDATE: Tony Abbott has this evening explained that there is a raised level of terrorist ‘chatter’ (non-Islamic, of course) after the Lindt cafe siege (which was also Nothing To Do With Islam™). Probably those damn Methodists planning a jumble mart… More likely, Islamic State are planning a ‘spectacular’ for some infidel celebration like Christmas or New Year… The scenes of terror played out live on television last week were a horrifying foretaste of what the West can expect if it continues down its path of appeasement and wilful blindness. A terrorist, armed with a shotgun, takes fifteen people hostage in a popular cafe in Martin Place in the heart of Sydney. The initial reaction of the Left was no doubt to hope that it was a Right-wing extremist, since as any fool knows, the majority of terrorism today is carried out by Right-wing extremists, like Anders Breivik and Timothy McVeigh and, er, you know, all the others… It would be a great excuse to organise a protest march against “Right-wing extremism” where Christine Milne and Lee Rhiannon and all the other Communists could whine and whinge about the evils of capitalism in front of a crowd of the great unwashed from the Socialist Alliance. Bad luck, though, because the hostage-taker flies the black flag of jihad in the window, demands an Islamic State flag, and informs the world that ‘Islamic State has come to Australia’. So ‘Right-wing extremist’ is unfortunately a difficult line to sustain. Plan B therefore swung into action. The mainstream media and the Left were desperate to shift attention away from the obvious, and portray the incident as the act of a random madman, mentally deranged [isn’t that just code for ‘devout Muslim’? – Ed], with a bunch of unspecified ‘grievances’ and, most importantly, having nothing whatsoever to do with Islam. Journalists and commentators looked at that black flag, emblazoned with the shahada, the Muslim profession of faith, and without any hint of irony, scratched their collective head and said ‘what does it all mean?’ This level of denial is astonishing – the Left and the mainstream media are quick to point out ‘denial’ when it applies to those who dare to question the flimsy global warming orthodoxy, but are completely oblivious to this far more obvious example in themselves. [Yeah, but that’s the Left all over isn’t it? Gleefully criticising others but lacking the capacity for honest self-examination – Ed] It’s not surprising really, when you think about it. Barack [Hussein] Obama, John Kerry and David Cameron refuse to accept that Islamic State has anything to to with Islam, despite it being called the freaking “Islamic State”! Islam is a religion of peace, dontcha know? I cannot for one minute imagine they would have the same difficulty if a terrorist organisation named itself the Christian State or even worse, the ‘Jewish State’ – they wouldn’t be so quick to claim that it had ‘nothing to do with Judaism’, would they? ROFLMAO, as they say. From where does this denial originate? It stems from the dangerous phenomenon of relativism which is so pernicious amongst the liberal Left: the idea that there are no absolute truths, and that nothing has any more intrinsic value than anything else. This kind of thinking has polluted the educational system now, so that a text message has just the same ‘value’ as a Shakespeare sonnet, and aboriginal weather lore is just as valid as atmospheric physics, meteorology and supercomputers. The logical extension to this relativism is the claim all cultures are equal and that no culture is superior or inferior to another. Thus Islam, an intolerant, supremacist, pre-medieval political ideology which aspires to global domination through violence, is on a level footing with the Judaeo-Christian heritage of the West, the doctrine of ‘live and let live’ and the Golden Rule. To suggest that Islam may have something to do with why so many Muslims decide to blow themselves up whilst shouting allahu akbar will immediately attract the labels ‘racist’, ‘Islamophobic’ and ‘bigot’ (usually in that exact order) from the Left, and once a person is labelled a racist, no matter how wrongly, that person’s views can safely be ignored. In fact, it goes further than mere equality. The progressive left views the West and its heritage as evil oppressors of other cultures, which themselves are then naturally treated as oppressed victims. It is a role that the Islamic community was born to play. So when a bunch of hard-core Muslims establish something called the Islamic State, which beheads innocent people and posts videos of it on social media, and justifies its actions by reference to the Qur’an, the Left, in their hopelessly muddled, relativism-addled brains, simply cannot process this information. How can this be? they think. All cultures are equal, and Islam is a religion of peace, right? I know that because Obama, Kerry and Cameron said so. And here’s the crux of the matter (if you will forgive that horribly racist Christian symbolism). If they accept that the ideology of Islam has inspired thousands of people to commit acts of terror in order to advance the spread of that ideology, and thousands more to die as martyrs in order to receive the pleasures of their 72 virgins in paradise, then this ideology and culture is wildly inferior to the tolerant and genuinely peaceful doctrines of other religions. A political system based on barbaric 7th century laws, and which is forever frozen in time, is similarly vastly inferior to the political systems in the West, which have developed gradually and carefully in the ensuing period of fourteen hundred years. This is not to say they are perfect, they are not, but all the others are worse, as Churchill once quipped. So maybe opposing the spread of Islam as an ideology in the West isn’t ‘racist’ after all, just plain common sense. Many elements of Islam are incompatible with Western democracies, and if Muslims emigrate to Western countries, they must acknowledge the supremacy of our systems of government over and above their religious allegiance to their god and the umma. Maybe, just maybe, ensuring that sharia law does not become entrenched in Western countries is not ‘Islamophobic’ either, but an important step to avoid the dilution of the fundamental doctrine of equality before the law. If you accept these premises, however, then the concept of cultural relativism quickly falls apart, and one of the structural elements of the liberal Left belief system crashes to the ground. It is therefore much easier to retreat into a state of ludicrous denial – convince oneself that this isn’t the REAL Islam, but a ’twisted version’ which has been ‘hijacked’ by a ‘tiny minority of extremists’. Then you can continue to believe that Islam is indeed a ‘religion of peace’ and that any act of terror carried out in its name is ‘nothing to do with Islam’. You can continue to believe that all cultures are equal, and that Islam is just as valid as Western democracies and their Judaeo-Christian heritage. You can continue to brand anyone who speaks the truth about Islam as a ‘racist Islamophobe’ and you can show your solidarity with Muslims by inventing a ridiculous Twitter hashtag, a disgraceful apology for ordinary Australians being such neanderthal bigots. Islam will continue to spread its toxic tentacles into our Western societies, through its incessant demands for special treatment, its continual treatment of non-Muslims as inferior and unclean, its monopoly of the victim mentality, its treatment of Western welfare provided in good faith as jizya from its infidel hosts, and, on occasions, through extreme and violent means, like last week in Sydney.australianclimatemadness/2014/12/23/sydney-siege-left-wing-denial-of-islamic-threat-far-worse-than-climate-scepticism/
