Salem Indoor Speedway is located inside an Oregon State Park; more detail to the previously mentioned headings can be found at oregon.gov/oprd/atv/Pages/qa.aspx. Prior to Race . Each Driver will be given 2 attempts to start their vehicle, the 1st attempt is coming out of staging and entering the race surface. If the Kart stalls prior to the field being given the one lap to green signal for the start of the race, they will get 1 last attempt to either push, pull, or electric start the vehicle (not to exceed 1 lap of push starting). If it stalls again, or does not fire, the driver will be given the black flag and not be allowed to return to the racing surface for the remainder of that race. . *If the kart stalls at any point after the one lap to green signal has been given, that kart will be sent to the back of the field and charged with a yellow flag. . All karts must grid up in a timely manner; there is no hot lap sessions prior to the start of the heats and/or mains. Be prepared to listen to instructions broadcast over the Raceceiver system. . Drivers are expected to know where they need to be lined up, prior to entering the racing surface. Race field lineups will be communicated using Raceceivers for 125, 250, and 500 Cage classes. Minimal hand signals will be used to arrange lineups. Failure to lineup as directed by track officials will result in driver(s) being shown the black flag and not being allowed to return to the racing surface for the remainder of that race. Starts . All starts/re-starts will be “in the box” in or about turn 4. At any point in the box the pole setter can pick up pace. At any point in the box the Flagman will green flag the race. . No passing allowed until the green flag has flown. . Any Driver(s) passing before the green will result in the yellow flag coming out and that Driver(s) being sent to the back of the pack. . Any advantage achieved due to accelerating prior to entering the “box” or the green flag signal will result in the driver(s) guilty of the early start being sent to the back of the pack. . If 2 double file Starts are attempted and Drivers are unable to score 1complete lap in the books, the following starts/re-starts will be Single File. SINGLE FILE RE-STARTS . In this formation, all karts must remain in a single file line until the green flag has flown. Pole Position . It is the pole position drivers choice of pace and driving line during starts/re-starts. The remainder of field needs to pay close attention to pole Drivers choices. Tire and Engine Cleaning . During parade/pace, laps there shall be no maneuvers made to clean tires or clean-out engine. If a driver needs/wants to clean out their engine he/she will do so with the clutch dis-engaged. Drivers failing to abide will be shown the black flag and DQ’ed from the session. Re-starts . If a wreck happens prior to 1 lap being completed karts will line back up in double file with karts that stopped going to the back of the pack. . After 1 lap is complete the following re-starts will be single file. . Should the Flagman feel it necessary to declare single file starts/re-starts, he may do so at any time. TIMED RACES . All heat races will be scheduled for 10 laps. Heat races will have a 6-minute time limit, upon a green flag heat race reaching the 6-minute mark the white flag will be displayed upon the next lap. If the race is under a yellow or red flag, the race will be over at the 6- minute point and the checker flag displayed. The finish order will be the running order prior to the red/yellow flag with those drivers who caused the red/yellow being moved to the back of the finishing order. . All Mains will have a 12-minute time limit, upon a green flag main reaching the 12- minute mark the white flag will be displayed upon the next lap. If the race is under a yellow or red flag, the race will be over at the 12-minute point and the checker flag displayed. The finish order will be the running order prior to the red/yellow flag with those drivers who caused the red/yellow being moved to the back of the finishing order. Yellow Flags . We DO NOT race to the yellow flag, UNLESS the white flag has been displayed to the leader of the race. If a wreck occurs after the leader has received the white flag, the green and yellow lights will be turned on together, signaling to the field we are racing to the Checker Flag and there may be disabled kart(s) in the driving line. . All karts that come to a stop on the racing surface resulting in the yellow flag being displayed will be sent to the back of the field for the re-start of the race and will be charged with a yellow flag. . Upon receiving their 2nd yellow in a heat and 2nd yellow in a main, drivers will be shown the black flag and scored in the order they left the race. BLACK FLAGS .
