URGENT NOTICE - Please take note that the East London SA Helping Hands page will be closing down. I would just like everyone to know the reason for this and would appreciate it if any negative comments could be avoided. This page was started with the intention of helping people that were destitute and really needed help. Unfortunately there were a lot of people that were not helped due to the fact that upon thorough investigation and discussion their circumstances did not warrant help. There were a lot of people whom we did help but with no donations coming in over the last three months it has become impossible to continue doing so. What has been happening is that when people are told to inbox or email East London SA helping Hands they are not doing so and insist on putting it on other pages when asked not to. The reason East London SA Helping Hands was started was so that people on facebook are not scammed into helping people who are not prepared to help themselves. What we did was not to just give handouts but to try and get people employment and get them on their feet, supplying them with food, clothing, etc until they were self supporting. All these people were investigated beforehand. Unfortunately what has been happening is that the “friends” of these people who refuse to abide by the rules become nasty and start hurling insults to the very people that are trying to help. The funny thing is that these same “friends” do not even try to help the person in need. We know there will be a lot of disappointed people out there but give us our due, we tried but as the admin of this page we are now tired of being verbally abused when all we are trying to do is to protect the “givers” and help the “takers” so that they one day might return the favour. A very big THANK YOU to all those who gave donations so willingly, they went a very long way in helping. God Bless you one and all!
