USDA cut its estimate of this year’s average corn yield from - TopicsExpress

USDA cut its estimate of this year’s average corn yield from last month by eight-tenths of a bushel per acre. That reduces the crop size by 68 million bushels. The soybean yield is four-tenths of a bushel above last month, and production is raised 31 million bushels. Both yields and production for corn and soybeans will be record large, if realized. As a result of USDA’s resurvey of small grain producers, this year’s spring wheat crop was reduced 5.7 million. North Dakota’s spring wheat crop is down almost 2.4 million bushels from USDA’s September estimate. Harvested acres were cut 50,000 acres in North Dakota due to the resurvey of growers since September. Total US wheat production is 10 million bushels below the September forecast.
