USE #215 for the Soo-do strike (Knife-hand/karate chop): Breaking the ice - That is separating frozen pieces of chicken in the kitchen. Yes, quite recently I needed to separate chicken legs I had just taken out of the freezer for cooking. The drumsticks were lumped together at different angles, with legs jutting out ramdomly, yet conveniently ready for picking out several striking targets. I brace the pile on the hard counter edge with one hand, leaving it balanced with some overhanging; and lift my striking hand and swing like a samurai sword cutting through a stack of bamboo. Voila! One, two, three times, and each (3) individual pieces comes off the stack. The rest were left still frozen in a block - One must know when to stop and leave well enough alone! From the first blow, I didnt even feel anything. The second break made me feel the coldness that seemed to fight back, penetrating the meat of my hand edge. And, by the third strike, my hand felt heated again, as when I practice my strikes repeatedly on the rope-board. Of course I needed to retrieve the frozen meat from the floor and wash it off!
