Ukrainian President Says Russian Troops Have Crossed the Border Step 1: acknowledgment Slightly dazed and confused, Ukrainian President Petro O. Poroshenko, appears to still be in early stages of denial, operating in delayed-response of the head-on-collision coming right at ya in slow motion reaction time. On Monday (8/25), a previously well-stocked, fully-equipped border replete with 50,000 Russian soldiers, backed by armored units and entire artillery brigades already in place--was well received, welcomed, and embraced by the first military column that crossed over into Ukraine. So, the 4,000 admitted and acknowledged active-duty, full-time professional soldiers--who obviously know what theyre doing, where fitness level and military finesse are not questionable--sent to fight on the new front in Novoazovsk, a border town downstream from Luhansk and Donetsk, is probably a little too generous, to say the least. Novoazovsk, a southeastern coastal border town, is near the port city of Mariupol, surrounded by the Sea of Azov. As of March, Crimeas annexation not only allows Putin to control the Black Sea at Sevastopol straddling the Crimean peninsula to the left--but now the Sea of Azov, to the right. Putin essentially now controls all of the ports leading into Russia. To the International Community: really smart idear, thanks a million, and imposing further sanctions will only allow him to respond militarily at this point--because previous sanctions, have already crippled the Russian economy, that was already in shambles to begin with. Weve not only enabled, but have also allowed--and since sanctions are most likely not feasible at this point, the next type of deterrence will more than likely have to take place in the form of nuclear.
