Update on Horton... Well he is NOT Sam!!! Sue, my trainer with YAY, (Youth and Yearling competition I did with Sam), told us that all the horses have different personalities. She is so right! The first day he was home, Sunday, it rained the entire day!!! Didnt get much done. Went out several times and talked to him but that was about it. Yesterday I tried to work with him. Well the rain made a lot of mud! His lead rope is covered in an amazing mix of mud and manure. Fun! Every time I got close he would tell me to back off! Ears pinned and everything! So I am listening and I am taking it slow... He is very scared. He doesnt understand I want to be his friend. Today he is accepting me in his space more, but that is all I am going to ask from him. Pushing him too fast is only going to make him more scared. I want him to understand to trust me. I am hoping the mud will dry up by this weekend so I can get more accomplished with Horton. Sam spoiled me! Man whoever gets to bring him home from the Expo will be lucky!!! I am glad I have more time with Horton bc I think I am going to need it!
