Update on Jacobs health: In February, Jacob tested positive for Pseudomonus growing in his lungs. Seven months later, we are still fighting this battle. We have tried to treat it twice now with a strong, liquid-inhaled antibiotic called TOBI. The treatment consists of inhaling it through a nebulizer twice a day for 15 minutes each time. He inhales the medicine for 28 days on, then takes a 28 day break. During that break, we take him in to Dell Childrens hospital for another culture sample. Both times, it is still showing up. So, after a month struggle with the insurance company, we finally got approved for a different type of treatment! It is still TOBI but now comes in a powder form. Its called the PodHaler and is the same drug, just administered differently. He inhales powder out of 4 capsules in the morning and again 4 pills in the evening for 28 days. We have 8 more days to go before we get him tested once again. Hoping this alternate way of getting the medicine deep down in his lungs will finally get rid of this hard-to-treat bacteria! Prayers graciously accepted. :)
