Update on our Little Man: We have been on quite the roller - TopicsExpress

Update on our Little Man: We have been on quite the roller coaster ride with Lincoln the past 24 hours! Yesterday he started to tank. He was constantly de-sating and his blood pressure was very unstable. By afternoon he was 100% dependent on his ventilator and he was still struggling. So the put him on an oscillator. They also performed an Echo and discovered a PDA (ill attach a link with info on PDA) This diagnosis brought a little relief because Emma had the same thing. Once she was diagnosed, they started treatment and she started to get well almost immediately. The treatment is 3 doses (1 every 12 hours) of a medication to close the passage. Lincoln received his 1st dose last night at 6:30, second this morning and 3rd tonight! Our prayer is that it woks for him as well as it did for Emma! Tomorrow morning he will receive a follow up Echo to check the status of the PDA. Last night he was also 100% dependent on the oscillator for breathing. They have been trying to wean him at 3% an hour and he is currently at 57%. His blood pressure is still really unstable so we are praying they can stabilize that as well. He is heavily sedated which is hard to see, But this allows him to rest and build up reserve! Continued prayers are greatly appreciated! And thank you all again for the outpour of love and support! preemies.about/od/preemiehealthproblems/f/What-Is-A-Patent-Ductus-Arteriosus-Pda.htm
